On Sunday, August 23, 2009, at approximately 01:51 a.m., the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a telephone call from a citizen reporting that he heard several gunshots and people screaming in the area of 1145 Helix Street in Spring Valley.
Deputies from the Lemon Grove Sheriff’s Station responded to the area and they found a non-responsive person on the ground in front of 1145 Helix Street. The victim, identified as Andgrick Miller (Age 24), had been shot and he was transported to Mercy Hospital where he died as a result of the gunshot wounds.
The investigation has revealed that the victim had walked northbound on Helix Street from Jamacha Road in Spring Valley. Prior to the shooting, the victim was standing in front of 1145 Helix Street and he was seen talking with a black male adult who was approximately 5’10” tall and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
A vehicle was seen leaving the area after the shooting. The vehicle was described as being a maroon or red late 1970’s to mid 1980’s two-door Chevy Monte Carlo style vehicle with 20” rims. |

Suspect - Jesus Arteaga Garcia |

On December 10, 2009, 28-year old Maribel Arteaga was fatally stabbed by her estranged husband, Jesus Arteaga Garcia. Garcia fled the scene and is now being sought by Chula Vista PD investigators. The victim, Maribel Arteaga worked for Homeland Security and was 2 months pregnant.
Witnesses told police that Garcia knocked on the victim's apartment door just before 8:30 p.m. on Santa Alicia Avenue near East Palomar Street. When she opened the door, he stabbed her. Witnesses say she was stabbed with a long-bladed knife. The victim was taken to Mercy hospital, where she died. The couple's two children, ages 6 and 7, were home at the time of the attack.
Jesus Arteaga Garcia is a resident of National City. Garcia has a tattoo of a tiger on his right arm; he is considered dangerous and a threat to others.

On May 30, 2009, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded to the 4300 block of 40th Street on reports of gunshots heard and a person down. They arrived to find Stephen Cormier, 18, suffering from gunshot wounds; Cormier was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that Cormier was inside a residence in the 4300 block of 39th Street when a Latino male came to the door. Cormier and the masked male walked south in the east alley of 39th Street. When they arrived in the cul-de-sac at the south end of 40th Street, Cormier and the suspect began to fight. The suspect pulled out a handgun and shot Cormier several times. The suspect ran to a white Ford Explorer which was parked on the east curb of 40th Street, facing north. The Explorer was driven by a Latino male, mid-20s, short hair, wearing a dark blue San Diego Chargers jersey. The vehicle was last seen eastbound on Meade Avenue.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 18-20, and bald. The night of the murder, he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. |

A reward of up to $10,000 is available for information on the person responsible for the murder of Daniel Alexander. A reward of up to $1,000 is available on arrest and an additional reward of up to $9,000 is available on conviction.
Daniel was murdered on July 4th, 2009. According to witnesses, Daniel Alexander was at the 500 block of S. Vine Street to visit his girlfriend. Alexander was confronted by several Hispanic males who were at a party next door. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun and shot Alexander.
Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers detained over 150 persons at the party and were able to obtain the attached composite sketch of the suspect responsible for killing Daniel Alexander. The suspect is described as stocky, 5' 9-10", brown curly hair (messy curls), chunky cheeks, and no facial hair. Hispanic male in his 20’s, curly brown hair, wearing a
short sleeve dark shirt (black or blue), unknown clothing. |

On September 7, 2009, at 8:24 p.m., a citizen reported hearing a gunshot in the area of Jacaranda and Pershing Drives. Subsequent callers reported a male shot in the 2600 block of Jacaranda Drive. Officers and paramedics found Brandon Robinson on the ground next to his motorcycle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics transported the victim to a trauma center, where he died at 12:41 a.m.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the Brandon was astride his motorcycle, which was parked on the west curb of Jacaranda Drive, when an unknown person shot him.

San Diego Police are looking for leads in the shooting death of Edward Johnston on December 9, 2008 in the Jamacha/Lomita area.
At 7:35 pm, officers were dispacted to the 900 block of Cardiff to a report of gunshots. They found two victims in the parking lot of a strip mall who had been shot. Edward Johnston, age 18, was killed, the other victim a 17-year-old-male survived.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 18-20, and bald. The night of the murder, he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

On October 28, 2007 at about 1:20 a.m., 17-year-old Guy Christopher Lofton III was found lying on the sidewalk at 2300 Commercial Street in San Diego. Guy suffered a gunshot wound and died from his injuries. His murder remains unsolved.

San Diego County Crime Stoppers is joining with the San Diego Sheriff's Department to get leads on the unsolved murders of Brandon Johnson and Donnell Davis.
On the evening of March 16, 2008 Brandon and Donnell were on their way home from a bowling alley in Chula Vista. As they drove on Highway 54 a car pulled alongside their vehicle and fired multiple shots. Brandon and Donnell were killed. |

Salvador Mercado Murder |

On November 16, 2003, at approximately midnight, Salvador Mercado was stabbed by an unknown suspect in the 800 block of Harris Avenue in San Diego. Salvador had just left a party in that same neighborhood prior to the attack. Salvador died from his wounds and his murder remains unsolved.
The San Diego Police Department is looking for information on the suspect responsible for this homicide. On December 31, 2007, at about 7:20 p.m., a homeless male discovered Pinson in an abandoned house on 2900 E Street in Golden Hill. Pinson appeared injured and unconscious. The male left the residence, borrowed a cell phone and called the police. Officers arrived and found Pinson inside the house, deceased. Pinson had been beaten and stabbed to death.

On the morning of July 10, 2008, Robert Juarez was leaving his Barrio Logan home when an armed suspect approached on foot and shot Robert as he started his vehicle. The suspect ran to a waiting vehicle, which picked up the shooter and fled the scene. The shooter and getaway driver are believed to be Latino males. The suspects fled in a newer, cream-colored, four-door Cadillac DTS and was last seen eastbound on Logan Avenue. At the time of the shooting, the getaway driver was wearing a blue construction hard hat.

Darnell Smith Murder |

On June 15, 2008 at approximately 12:20 a.m., 20-year-old Darnell Smith parked his car in the 700 block of Pyramid Street. Smith was with several relatives and was walking to his Aunt’s house from his car.
An unknown suspect stepped out of a vehicle, walked up behind Smith and his relatives, and fired multiple rounds at the group; Smith was hit and died at the scene. Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a newer black Ford Escape or a similar vehicle with tinted windows.
In addition to the $1,000 Crime Stopper Reward, Cox Communications is also offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest. |

Damon Green Murder |

On Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at about 2:30 am, Damon Green was shot and killed while at Donuts Plus at 4090 El Cajon Blvd. Prior to the shooting, Green and the two suspects exchanged words at the Rolberto's Taco Shop next door.
Suspect #1 is described as a Hispanic/ Puerto Rican male with a round chubby face, early 20’s, approximately 5’8, 220 lbs, with facial hair, which has been described as a thin goatee and/or a chin strap style. He was last seen wearing a long sleeved light colored shirt/jacket, shorts and a dark colored baseball hat turned sideways.
Suspect #2 is described as a Hispanic male, early 20’s, approximately 5’8, 200 lbs with a shaved head. He was last seen wearing an oversized, short sleeved, horizontally striped shirt and dark pants/jeans.
Both suspects were last seen leaving the area going northbound on 41st Street.

Hannah Podhorsky Murder |

On February 1, 2009, at approximatey 2:40 a.m., Hannah Podhorsky was shot and killed in the 700 block of South 42nd Street. Podhorsky was a resident of National City and a student at Mission Bay High School.
Investigators believe Podhorsky was visiting friends who reside on South 42nd Street. She was standing on the sidewalk in front of the residence with at least one other person when they were approached by unknown suspects. The suspects fired multiple rounds from a handgun in the direction of Podhorsky and her friend. Podhorsky was struck once in the lower obdominal area. The motivation for the shooting is not clear at this time, nor is it clear whether or not Podhorsky was the intended target.

Ron Harnish Murder |

On December 27, 2006 Ron Harnish and two friends were driving on the 1100 block of 31st Street. The men stopped and exited their car and had a confrontation with two hispanic males who were standing on the sidewalk. One of the hispanic males fired shots injurying one man and killing Ron Harnish. The suspects fled the scene.

On the evening of November 23, 2007, Francisco Miranda was shot in the 3000 block of Main Street in Chula Vista in the parking lot of On the Border. He later died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Detectives believe this case is related to two other shootings the same night. Witnesses described the suspect as a black man, in his late 20s to early 30s, with a slim build. He was wearing a black hooded shirt, blue jeans and a ball cap turned backward.
A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.

|
On May 7, 2007, Frederick Roberson was shot and killed in the 5400 block of Bayview Heights Place in San Diego.
Detectives have identified 22-year-old Nathaniel Smith as a person of interest in this case; Smith is currently wanted for questioning.
Smith is known to frequent the City Heights and Lincoln Park neighborhoods of San Diego.

On April 30, 2006, at about 9:20 pm, the above pictured man shot and killed Yassir Amaraut at the "Jack in the Box" restaurant located at 2404 Market Street, in San Diego.

On May 12, 2006, Sibyl Robbins and her husband were shot in front of their Encinitas home. Sibyl was killed in the passenger seat of their Volvo. Her husband survived.
The Sheriff's Department and Sibyl's family are looking for leads in this case. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest of Sibyl's murderer.

On February 14, 2007, Jodine Elizabeth Serrin, a 39-year-old, mentally challenged woman, was found murdered in her Carlsbad condominium located in the 1900 Block of Swallow Lane.
A reward of up to $2,000 is available for information leading to an arrest in this case. $1,000 is from Jodine's family and $1,000 from Crime Stoppers. The Governor's office is offering a $50,000 reward.

On November 23, 2007, Jose Rodriguez was out with friends celebrating his 18th birthday. While driving a friend home, Jose was shot and killed in front of an apartment complex in the 400 block of Woodlawn Avenue in Chula Vista.
Witnesses described the shooter as a black man, in his late 20s to early 30s, with a slim build. Three separate shootings took place that night San Diego and Chula Vista; they are all believed to be related.
In addition to the $1,000 offered by Crime Stoppers, The Governor's office is offeringa $50,000 reward. Crime Stoppers reward is paid on arrest and the Governor's reward is paid on arrest and conviction.

Her roommate Julio Cesar Jacobo-Curiel is a suspect in the case. He was last seen leaving the Casitas del Sol mobile home park on Barham Drive. Jacobo-Curiel is a 57-year-old hispanic male, 5'4", 175 lbs. |

On January 19, 2007, at about 6:30 p.m., 16-year-old Romel Velarde was shot and killed in front of his house. Velarde was standing in his driveway located in the 2300 block of East Division Street in National City. Two unidentified males were seen running from the area.
A brown van or sports utility vehicle was seen driving away from the area immediately after the murder.

On 9/8/2000, Andrew Moore, a City College student, was murdered in his apartment on 8th Avenue in San Diego. As part of the crime, his 1994 Suzuki Katana motorcycle was stolen. The motorcycle was recovered on 10/17/2000, in the 1100 block of 24th Street.
In addition to the $1,000 offered by Crime Stoppers, the Moore family is offering $5,000 and the Governor's office $50,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible for this crime.

On Monday, November 5, 2007 at 5:51 pm, Anthony Hawkins was shot and killed at the Exxon Station on Euclid & Geneva. Hawkins was shot multiple times and died of his injuries.

On August 3, 2007 at about 2 am a BMW and a pickup truck were driving at a high rate of speed at 4700 Fairmount Avenue.
After the two vehicles crashed the driver of the truck left the scene of the collision. Catalan is wanted by the San Diego Police Department Traffic Investigations Unit for two counts of vehicular manslaughter.
There were three occupants in the BMW; Joshua Spears and Ryan Zelman died in the crash and one other victim was seriously injured and is still in the hospital.

Wanted: Miguel Cabellero Madriz

Detectives said a $500,000 warrant has been issued by the San Diego Superior Court charging Miguel Cabellero Madriz with felony sexual assault. Madriz has been working as a youth club soccer coach in San Diego. Madriz is accused of sexually assaulting one of his former youth soccer players.
Madriz is a 43-year-old Hispanic male, 5'10" tall, 180 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.

On July 26, 2007 at about 10:30 pm Kimo Muronaga was shot and killed while walking from his home to his job at a print shop in the Mountainview neighborhood of San Diego.
Kimo noticed a suspicious looking vehicle pulling over and someone get out of the car. Fearing for his safety, he ran--Kimo was shot as he fled on Imperial and 36th Street. |

Jeremy Lindsay Murder |

On June 6, 2003, 22-year-old Jeremy Lindsay attended the KGB Sky Show at Qualcomm Stadium. At about 9:15 p.m. Jeremy was confronted by a large group of men between sections A2-A4 in the stadium parking lot.
An argument erupted and the group of men attacked Jeremy. Jeremy sustained multiple head injuries from the attack and later died from his injuries. |

On January 2, 2009, 90-year-old Ventura Madrigal was struck and killed at the intersection of 6th and Highland Avenue in National City. At the time of the accident, Madrigal was attempting to cross the street in the crosswalk at the intersection.
Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as being similar to a green mid-90's Ford Explorer. The vehicle may have front end damage. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, late 20's to early 30's, with a mustache and a dark colored baseball cap.

On June 7, 2003 Anthony Lindsay was shot and killed in an apartment building parking lot in the 700 block of E. Mission Avenue in Escondido.
Witnesses and evidence found during the investigation point to Angel Soto Torres as the suspect. Torres should be considered armed and dangerous.

Reward of up to $11,000 |
A reward for information on the person or persons responsible for vandalism of a Carlsbad sewer pipe that led to more than $100,000 in damage. The pipe is located east of El Camino Real near Tamarack Avenue.
Based on the city’s initial investigation, it appears vandals threw objects and debris down a nearby manhole. The manhole is on city-owned property that is fenced for security. Trespassing and vandalism at the site have increased in the past six months in spite of continued efforts by the city to secure the area.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and the City of Carlsbad is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. |

On January 31, 2000, at about 10:20 pm, Miguel Castro was shot and killed in front of the apartment complex located at 451 E. Mission Avenue in Escondido. Witnesses reported seeing a white 4-door Honda or Toyota at the corner of Hickory Avenue and Mission Avenue with three to four suspects inside the vehicle.
In addition to the $1,000 offered by Crime Stoppers, The Escondido Police Department is offering $1,000 and the family of Castro is offering $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the suspects responsible for this crime. |

Alex Ceballos Murder |

On January 28, 2001, at about 7:00 pm, Alex Ceballos was in his car in the 900 block of Merlin Drive in San Diego. Ceballos was parked waiting for his friend who was visiting his girlfriend. Two young Hispanic males came running (and shooting) after his friend as he left his girlfriends house. His friend jumped in Alex's car and Ceballos was shot and killed as they attempted to drive away.
The suspects were last seen running Southbound on 60th Street from Merlin Drive.
