Ayo Wharton Murder


Reward of up to $1,000

On Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at approximately 8:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of a male found in Tecolote Canyon on the walking path. The male, later identified as Ayo Wharton, suffered a gunshot wound and died from his injury.

Wharton lived in a nearby neighborhood and was possibly seen walking into the canyon area with an unknown person just after sunset the day before his body was discovered. Wharton was known to frequent the Tecolote Canyon area with acquaintances.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the San Diego Police Department's Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293. Callers may remain anonymous by calling the Crime Stoppers tip line at:
